Derrick Pugh studied film and editing techniques at East London Polytechnic and then with BBC Education and Training.  He was then sponsored by ITV weather presenter, Sian Lloyd and gained membership and registration of the ACTT which was later superseded by BECTU ( Broadcasting Entertainment and Cinematograph & Theatre Union ) as a television cameraman.  He worked at Laura Ashley as a Video & Technical Engineering Manager, and during his employment he learnt to fly with Sir Bernard Ashley at Shobdon Airfield in Herefordshire.

He has over 20 years professional experience in the production industry and is a freelance cameraman.

Derrick covers a variety of different filming applications.  Previous projects include filming all the news bulletins which featured in the film "Happy Now" which was filmed on location at Barmouth, North Wales working alongside famous actors such as Ioan Gruffydd ( Hornblower, Titanic etc. ).

Filmed documentaries for international television companies etc., e.g. featuring the location filming of "Undertakers Paradise" at Aberystwyth, West Wales.

As a CAA qualified pilot with a Group A licence, Derrick can provide aerial filming.

He also has a Press ID as a bona fide newsgatherer, which is registered with the Association of Chief Police Officers of England, Wales and Northern Ireland, and the Association of Chief Police Officers in Scotland.

Derrick is a former British Experts 250cc 4 Stroke Enduro Champion, and also won 11 consecutive years Welsh 4 Stroke Enduro Championships.  He has appeared in and produced several motorcycle films.
